Dust mites are not insects - they are related to spiders and ticks - and they are so small that they are not visible to the naked eye. First reported in the late 1600's by the inventor of the microscope, dust mites measure only 1/100th of an inch - smaller than the period at the end of this sentence.

Dust mites love warm, humid areas such as bed pillows, mattresses, carpets, and upholstered furniture. They feed off of skin shed by people and their pets and are second only to pollen in causing allergic reactions.

Dust mites don't bite so they are of no harm to many. But if you are one of the millions of people who is sensitive to them, you know how uncomfortable sleeping with them can be.

To be mite proof, your pillow must be covered in what is called a zippered encasement to protect it completely. If the fabric is tightly woven enough, dust mites can neither escape nor enter your pillow. Dust mites can survive cold water washing; it takes hot water to kill them.

The yarns in our cover are so tightly and closely woven that allergens and mites cannot pass through - it acts as a soft filter which keeps out contaminants while keeping your sleeping surface dry and comfortable The fabric is durable and will not pill. You can wash it as often as you like. Two leading colleges of medicine have tested this fabric and found it to be an effective barrier to dust and dust mites.

Just like the original MedSlant, the MedSlant pillow with the mite proof cover also comes with an additional washable, easily removeable cover. Provided the pillow itself is totally enclosed, the mites stay out and you sleep better. The additional cover simply protects the zippered cover and is quick and easy to apply.
